Timac Tips: Solutions Used to Decrease our Carbon Footprint

Solutions Used to decrease our carbon footprint

For over 20 years, TIMAC AGRO has been committed to energy transition through innovative and sustainable solutions. The decarbonisation of our industry is one of our major priorities, and these transitions represent crucial steps in our energy strategy.

1 general post

Since the 2000s, TIMAC AGRO has been reducing its carbon footprint through a program of replacing gas burners with biomass boilers. By replacing fossil gas with biomass, we are using a renewable energy source that significantly reduces our CO2 emissions. Over 10 years, this represents 500,000 tons of avoided CO2. Today, biomass represents 40% of our thermal mix.

In 2023, more than 5800 m2 of solar panels have been installed on our industrial sites in Belgium and Ireland, to produce electricity that emits less carbon. Thanks to solar energy, we are reducing emissions linked to electricity consumption by 300 tons of CO2 over one year.

The decarbonization of TIMAC AGRO’s activities is continuing, with a target of reducing CO2 emissions by 15% by 2030 (scopes 1 & 2).

4 2030's strategy

As a pioneer in sustainable agriculture, TIMAC AGRO continues to be committed to offering tailor-made, innovative and technological solutions for productive agriculture that respects the environment.
