EXCELIS MAXX: More Than Just A Stabilizer

MORE THAN JUST A STABILIZER

Excelis Maxx is designed to protect nitrogen from three pathways of loss and stimulate soil microbes to improve root growth and nutrient uptake. Excelis Maxx offers two unique ingredients:

LCN Complex: Which protects nitrogen from volatilization, denitrification and leaching by using a combination of urease inhibitor (NBPT), nitrification inhibitor (DCD) and a polyphenolic complex: which protects NPBT and DCD against oxidization and improves longevity.

Rhizovit: Our patented biostimulant that enhances soil microbe activity to increase root growth and nutrient uptake in the rhizosphere.

AIM FOR SUFFICIENCY, NOT EXCESS

NBPT and DCD, the active ingredients found in many nitrogen stabilizers can be harmful to soil microbial communities despite their importance in preventing nitrogen losses. While these stabilizers are vital in agriculture excessive amounts of NBPT and DCD can harm soil health.

Excelis Maxx is designed with a lower concentration of DCD and NBPT compared to many competitive products. What sets it apart is the patented LCN complex, which includes a polyphenolic compound acting as a natural antioxidant. This compound slows down the breakdown of NBPT and DCD, allowing these inhibitors to remain effective in the soil for 21- 30 days. This is a longer duration than most competitive products, which are effective for 10 to 15 days.

This prolonged effectiveness is a key factor contributing to Excelis Maxx’s high efficacy, even with lower NBPT and DCD concentrations. These stabilizing components remain available under a wider range of loss conditions. The phenolic compound also serves as a natural nitrification inhibitor, helping to slow down the conversion of ammonium to nitrate alongside the action of DCD.

Using a lower effective concentration of NBPT and DCD along with the addition of Timac Agro’s Rhizovit biostimulant technology allows Excelis Maxx to be effective at preventing N losses while also conserving soil microbial communities.

The patented LCN complex acts as a natural antioxidant which slows down the breakdown of NBPT and DCD allowing these inhibitors to remain effective in the soil longer.

Study on Microbial Inhibition by the Centre Mondial de L' Innovation

The Centre Mondial de L’Innovation conducted a study on the effects of NBPT on soil microbe growth. The study examined three N stabilizers and their effects on both fungal and bacterial growth.

The study showed that all NBPT formulations equally inhibited fungal growth. In contrast, one competitive product strongly inhibited bacterial growth at 38% NBPT, while another inhibited it at 30% NBPT.

The study revealed that Excelis Maxx, thanks to the inclusion of the Rhizovit Root Activator had a beneficial impact against NBPT toxicity in bacteria. This effect is referred to as the “Rhizovit effect”

NBPT based formulations show different effects on bacterial growth:

NITROLIZER strongly inhibits bacterial growth

AGROTAIN inhibits bacterial growth

EXCELIS MAXX shows a beneficial effect against NBPT toxicity

Compared to competitors Excelis Maxx shows a beneficial effect against NBPT toxicity. This is referred to as the "Rhizovit Effect"

Benefits of Microbial Activity to Plants

  • Improve nutrient availability and uptake
  • Protection against pathogens and disease
  • Improved abiotic stress tolerance
  • Improved soil structure and aggregation
  • Recycling of soil nutrients

Plant and microbes have many mutually beneficial relationships in the soil, particularly in the zone surrounding plant roots called the rhizosphere
